Global Economy has no Risk of Double Dip Recession

" The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" It is sure. But just not yet….. It is true that the U.S. government is on an unsustainable path of spending. We're fast approaching the point where it can only end badly. But before you go build your bunker and fill it with freeze-dried food, know that you have a couple years… Based on history, we're not there yet. Right now, there's no recession looming. At least, that's the conclusion of two of the best indicators at predicting recessions. I'll share these two indicators with you today. Their historical track records are very good. And they point to "clear skies ahead" for the time being. The first indicator I'll share has a great track record as an "early warning" sign for recessions… This indicator has predicted every recession over the last 40 years. Importantly, right now, this indicator is nowhere near a level that predicts a r...

How to Become Financially Independent ?

How to Become Financially Independent ? You are middle aged. Your net worth is meager. Your income is barely sufficient to meet expenses… And those expenses are going up. The Great Recession is looming. Economists are predicting things will get worse. What can you do? Should you give up your dream of retiring comfortably one day? Should you accept a future of increasingly meager existence? Should you grow bitter and curse the powers that be for putting you in this situation? Or should you take responsibility for your situation and make changes? That last question was metaphorical, of course. But sometimes, I wonder if people really do understand their options. There are things that happen in life that we can't control. But we can control the way we respond to them. I understand that when you are halfway through your life and are barely making ends meet, it seems like the only chance to become financially success...

Why So Rich People are Still Working in old age also?

I met a few people who have "silly" wealth – more wealth than they could ever need or spend. These guys are at retirement age or older… But for some reason, they work harder than just about anyone else I know… Why are they working so hard? Isn't the dream to "bank" enough money so you don't have to work? I called a few of these people some days back and asked why. The answers were interesting… One wealthy man started out with this story to explain it… I had dinner with an extremely wealthy guy last week who's 71. He just retired supposedly to play some golf. I asked him how it was going… "Retirement is horrible," he told me. He said, "I do NOT enjoy sitting in the desert doing nothing. I don't have a clue what I'm doing out here. I don't think I can do this. I don't need the money… But I think I'll have to go back to work." ...

A Walk Through Central Depository System

(October 2011) By Homnath Gaire In a nut shell, Central Depository System (CDS) is an electronic book entry system to record and maintain securities and to register their transfer. In CDS, ownership will be changed without physical movements of securities or execution of transfer deeds. The ownership will be transferred as soon as securities move from one account to another. CDS is purely a settlement vehicle and will not affect the trading in any manner whatsoever. It is expected that the CDS will bring tremendous efficiency and growth in the capital market of Nepal. It will also enhance the image of Nepal's capital market globally. Participants of CDS:Account Holders Account holders are divided into two categories - account holders and participants. Both account holders and participants will have direct access to the CDS. Account holders will be allowed to have a main account and a house account for their beneficially owned securities. Participants, how...
